Here we see a Mini. It’s a Countryman and some will be glad to see it’s a diesel.
To its right we see an Opel Insignia, also incarnated as the Buick Regal. It’s almost certainl
y a diesel too, but never mind.
Thing is, the Mini was originally, well, Mini. It was very small. This Mini seems to be just as big as the Insignia, whose predecessor would have been about three steps above the first Mini.
How things change.

They should have called it the Maxi, though I expect that name is probably owned by SIAC now

I am amazed that I, a 6'1" adult, managed to fit in the back seat of a (proper, 1991 or so IIRC) Mini. With an adult (not as tall as me, but still) in front of me.
Mind you, it wasn’t comfortable, but it’d be fine for going across a city to somewhere.

Easy when you don’t have to worry about crumple zones and all that.

Nope, BMW retained the Maxi and Metro trademarks for possible use on future MINIs, they just never did anything with them. They have Triumph and Riley, too.

Ah I knew about Triumph, but keeping the rest of those makes sense too.
